Breakout Dance Company was founded in January 2007 by Keely Turner. Keely had noticed the lack of opportunities for performers from small towns and set out to expand appreciation for the art on PEI. Province wide auditions were held and originally 14 dancers were selected for the pre-professional touring company. Since it's inception, Breakout Dance Company has wittled down to 6 amazingly talented dancers who each bring something unique to the table. Keely choreographs dances for the group ranging from Hip Hop to African to Contemporary. The group meets frequently throughout each month to learn new pieces, rehearse old ones, and condition.
 
Breakout Dance Company has performed in numerous shows across Atlantic Canada. They combine a vast amount dance forms into each performance to give their audience a full display of the varying styles of the art. Breakout Dance Company is currently working on adding gymnastics to their résumé as they set out to take their training to the next level.

Keely hopes the company will do a lot more travelling with the company, and aspires to host an annual full length Breakout Dance Company show in Charlottetown this summer.
